What Are You Willing To Do To Educate All Children?
Every child deserves equal opportunity to get a quality education. We go to college to learn how to be good educators and learn the content of what we should be teaching these kids, but what I've gathered from most classes I've taken here is that you learn more from the students themselves than anything that a textbook could teach you. Every school year, every class, every student will be completely different and as a teacher, you will absolutely have to adapt to this, and figure out a way to accommodate everyone. It is possible to include everyone into a curriculum and get through to all of your students, It may not be the easiest to come by, but it is do-able, and it is worth the kids getting the education that they deserve.
The things that I am willing to do in order to see all students succeed is to make the classroom a safe space that makes them feel like they want to learn, and a place they are okay with growing and succeeding in. Listening to what the kids need from you as an educator is a major deal, and it needs to happen in order to have an effective learning experience all around. The articles we read and videos we watched gave me wonderful advice on this topic, by giving examples of how to display this in the classroom setting. I would love to be able to implement different learning styles as well as different strategies to help the kids learn, like making little songs to remember content, or creating fun memory related games, or just giving kids themselves the opportunity to be the teacher. There is a lot you can learn from your students, you just have to make sure to stop and really listen to what these kids truly need from you.
